"POST SCRIPTS" May 18, 2007

"Much of my time is spent as a volunteer on our local Physician Search committee seeking physicians (especially family physicians) for our area which has been designated as Underserviced by the Provincial Government. It is one of over 100 municipalities just in Southern Ontario. We do tours for prospects and go to an annual 5-day job tour in the 5 Universities in Southern Ontario in addition to a number of activities directed toward retention of our existing physicians. It has become a very competitive business.

I still assist in the O.R. Sandy Macpherson and I still have lunch on a regular basis, usually with 4 other nonmedical chaps who were in the Knox College Residence with us when we were in medical school. I also see several of my former teachers in my surgical training program who you may recall: Don Wilson (a cardiovascular surgeon), Griff Pearson (a surgeon at TGH), Wally Lotto (an orthopod at TWH) Ron Baird, another surgeon at the TGH, and several others who practiced in the Toronto area. They have all moved to our area in recent years. We are having our annual BBQ next month. I invited Bernie Langer but he will be in France.

We are doing more travelling as well and are off to the U.K. this week for a tour of the land of my ancesters, Scotland."
